Mommy Daughter Adventures...

Since moving to Texas I've made it my challenge to make the most of my time at home with Felicity. For my working mommy friends who've never had this opportunity let me say (from my perspective at least) it is harder work than I expected to be the kind, loving, engaging parent I should be everyday. Some days us girls just sing silly songs and dance together, but other days we have outings around our new town. Most recently, I've stepped out of my comfort zone and joined a mother's group at our church in Keller. The ladies have been very welcoming and FC has several children in the nursery her age. It should be a "win" for both of us! I have truly thirsted for Christian fellowship in the past couple of years. And yes, I'm cringing  - way to long for me to be without small group Bible study and friendships. I look forward to growing in my walk with Christ and as a mom in this group.

During the month of May, Catholics celebrate the life and ministry of Mary, Mother of Jesus. Our small group did so through prayer and song - in praise for her obedience in God's plan of salvation and perfect love of Christ. The children then participated in a crowing of Mary with flowers to honor her life and service. FC's nursery teachers said that she did great with the other kids and didn't cry once. Her separation anxiety is still a bit strong since moving to Texas, but we are doing MUCH better these days. Felicity liked playing with her flower and I caught her in a flower-sword fight with a group of boys...very fun to see her interacting with other children.

Running away to pick more flowers!
Our small group also planned a trip for the kids to spend a day at the zoo - FC had never been so I was super excited to take her. We somehow missed meeting our group at the planned site, but it actually worked out great for me. I skipped a few attractions and spent more time at others as FC's interest directed. It was difficult managing her bag, the stroller and myself - let alone get cute pictures. Trust me when I say she had a great time - the child loves animals!! Her favorites were the meerkats, rhinos, and giraffe. She also rode on a carousel for the first time - can't say she loved it...but Mommy sure was excited.

Watching and squealing at the penguins.

Is this all this thing does??

Watching some wild children rough house in the farm play house (AHHH! AC!!)

She picked out the giraffe on her own.

I loved it Mommy!
